Idea of the Day - Quietline Ventless Washer Dryer
Originally published at encyclopedia beaglebotica. You can comment there.
In this world of high-technology, sometimes simplicity is the best design. That’s why QuietLine washer/dryers offer the ease of use and solid dependability rarely found in products of our time. Combine this with Quietline’s compact size and ventless design, and you have one of the most versatile combination washer/dryer available anywhere.
It’s going to take some getting used to, but for a small space and the ability to put it in places you couldn’t for others it’s the best choice. energy and space efficient and you won’t have to move the laundry from washer to dryer anymore.

Idea of the Day - Compact Combo Kitchen
Originally published at encyclopedia beaglebotica. Please comment there.

Combination Kitchen with Refrigerator, Cooktop and Stainless Steel Sink Combination sink, range, and fridge
Did you know that there is a french term “the American refrigerator?” Many other countries feel the same. In some ways I think that our setup hurts us. We don’t go to the market and get fresh food as often. It seems harder to find farmers markets. We don’t spend as much social time on food.
I’m not sure the benefits outweigh all of the problems. Does a family of two need that much space? How long does some of that sit in there? How much sits so long that it just gets thrown away?
How much empty space is in your fridge right now? Are you better off having thirty condiments hiding unused on a top shelf than having a few that you use and enjoy? Is buying that super jumbo bottle of ketchup really easier than buying it more often? Is the savings that great.
If it’s down to worrying about saving time and shaving off a few minutes shouldn’t we reevaluate our lives?
Space isn’t at as much of a premium here as it is many other places so we don’t think about it. Next time you cook look around, how much of what you have have you used in the last month? How often do you have more than two burners going? If you do, more power to you, if you don’t, do you think that the extra space would be better used for something else?

Moving
eb will most likely be moving soon. Blogger has been good to me but I'm feeling the limits of it. A side effect is that I won't be doing daily updates for a few days. I know that you will all miss the station wagons :)

MeeVee: Your TV Friend
MeeVee: Your TV Friend
I like TV. A lot. IT helps me escape my sometimes crap existance. It entertaines me. Sometimes it even teaches me. This is a cool TV guide that lets you see when shows you like are on, any channel that they may be on an shows you if it's a new episode or not.
It could do with a couple more features and some lessons in user interface but at the moment it's how I'm finging what's on when I'm not just furiously hitting the channel up button

Idea if the Day - Halfbakery
recent 3
The Halfbakery is a communal database of original, fictitious inventions, edited by its users. It was created by people who like to speculate, both as a form of satire and as a form of creative expression.
It can tend towards the silly sometimes but there are some great ideas mixed in

Movie Review: Happy Accidents
Netflix: Happy Accidents: "Ruby Weaver (Marisa Tomei) is tired of being the 'enabler' in relationships and has decided to give up the role of doormat. She's also on the verge of giving up on love. But a sweet, small-town guy, Sam Deed (Vincent D'Onofrio), changes her mind, and it seems Ruby's finally found a sane boyfriend. Or has she? Soon, Sam's divulging that he's a time traveler from the year 2470 … and Ruby must decide whether love conquers all."
I loved this movie. I'm a big fan of D'Onofrio so I may be a bit biased but still. I'm sorry I missed this on the big screen. D'Onofrio is at his quirky best and Tomei gives a solid performance that kept me wanting to watch.
A great example of science fiction by script instead of by effect.

Idea of the Day: PocketMod: The Free Disposable Personal Organizer
PocketMod: The Free Disposable Personal Organizer: "The PocketMod is a new way to keep yourself organized. Lets face it, PDAs are too expensive and cumbersome, and organizers are bulky and hard to carry around. Nothing beats a folded up piece of paper. That is until now. With the PocketMod, you can carry around the days notes, keep them organized in any way you wish, then easily transfer the notes to your PDA, spreadsheet, or planner.
The PocketMod is a small book with guides on each page. These guides or templates, combined with a unique folding style, enable a normal piece of paper to become the ultimate note card. It is hard to describe just how incredibly useful the PocketMod is. It's best that you just dive in and create one."

BatesLine: Whirled threatens BatesLine
For my handful of local readers: Read this and see if this is what you want, or if you knew that this was going on
BatesLine: Whirled threatens BatesLine: "Whirled threatens BatesLine
NOTE to those of you who normally skip the Tulsa stuff here: Please read this entry. This is not just about the sordid little world of Tulsa politics. This is the old media trying to intimidate their critics in the new media into silence. It has repercussions for any blogger engaged in media criticism. It strikes at the heart of what blogs do. I'd appreciate your help in putting the blogosphere's spotlight of shame on this legal threat.
Tulsa City Councilor Chris Medlock wasn't the only one to get a special valentine from our friends at the Tulsa Whirled. The Vice-President [sic] of the Tulsa World has threatened legal action against me for 'reproduc[ing] (in whole or in part) articles and/or editorials' and for 'inappropriately link[ing my] website to Tulsa World content.' ('World' is the legal name, although here at BatesLine we call it the Whirled, in the spirit of Private Eye's renaming of the Guardian as the Grauniad.)"

Idea of the day - Xtracycle Hitchless Bicycle Trailers and Sport Utility Bicycles
Xtracycle Hitchless Bicycle Trailers and Sport Utility Bicycles: "
©2005 www.edwardcaldwell.com
We're handy guys, especially with duct tape and rope. We could rig a milk crate to a little rear rack for groceries or tape some foam to the handlebars to cushion the ride for a passenger. If confronted with a sport utility bicycle the 'old us' would likely say, 'nah, I'll save the cash and improvise.'
And the old us did carry a load by bike now and then, but we didn't ride as often as we do now and we missed a whole bag of magic. Because when it's a hassle, chore, major brain job, or just plain no-fun to use your bike for a trip or errand, it's not bicycle lifestyle; at best it's just making do, and at worst it's suffering for no tangible gain.
When the two of us started this company eight years ago, we didn't think about bicycling as a lifestyle. Biking was just a cheap, fun, appropriate way to get around. But we knew you could ride more if you could easily carry a load, and we knew the world would be a saner, cleaner, cooler place if more people could ride more often. So we designed a bike to carry your stuff.
It worked.
We proudly called it 'the bike that hauls,' to advertise that you could pile it up with groceries or gear and still beat traffic. And yet, both 'amazing load capacity' and 'nimble handling'—while true—failed to get at the essence of how the 'bike that hauls' changed our own lives, and how it could change yours.
And that's why we probably wouldn't have bought one ourselves; we didn't yet understand the difference between the bicycle as tool and the bicycle as enricher of days. It's the deep essence that words and pictures don't easily capture; like falling in love, you know it when you feel it. And in this case, you only feel it when you ride it—for a few hours or months or just one trip to th"
I'd have loved one of these as a teen and might never have gotten away from riding if I'd had it.

Argh
I'm a little irritated. I'd finally found a phone headset thet I could hear on and that others could hear me on with a decent noise cancelling mic so of course within 48 hours the dog chewed it up.
Now I have to wait until I'll come off the $40 for another one I'm back to holding the phone. Which means I'm going to be pulling to the side of the road a lot since in the car is the place I need to use it the most. Knowing how cheap I am that's gonna be that way for a while too.
I love the little pup but crap.
